Business Delegation visit to Montréal and Toronto

ZÖLLNER joins delegation visit to Montréal and Toronto

From November 3 to 7, 2025, a delegation trip to Canada took place with the support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). The project was organized by Commit Project Partners GmbH in collaboration with the German Chamber of Commerce in Canada (AHK Canada) and the German Railway Industry Association (VDB). The aim of the trip was not only to present the diverse business opportunities within the Canadian rail industry to German companies, but also to foster direct exchange and mutual understanding with Canadian partners.

Canada’s Rail Sector on the Move

Canada is making major investments in its transportation infrastructure as rising population numbers and growing mobility needs demand increased rail network capacity. At the same time, modernization and efficiency in rail transport are expected to meet the demands of a dynamic public transit system.

The provinces of Ontario and Québec are at the center of numerous expansion and modernization projects. Among the largest initiatives is the High-Frequency Rail Project (HFR), which envisions a modern high-speed rail line spanning approximately 1,000 kilometers between Québec and Toronto—with new electrified tracks, innovative signaling technology, and state-of-the-art trains. The project is being developed by a consortium that includes SNCF, Systra, and Atkins— who are also long-standing partners of ZÖLLNER Signal.

ZÖLLNER on Site

ZÖLLNER was represented on site by Dr. Philipp Murmann, our Managing Partner. As part of the delegation trip, numerous B2B meetings, networking events, and site visits took place at companies such as VIA Rail, Metrolinx, Go Transit, and Alstom.

“Canada’s rail industry is undergoing an exciting transformation. The demand for safe, efficient, and digital solutions is growing—a landscape in which our Track Warning Systems (TWS) can deliver real added value,” says Dr. Murmann.

Safety as Key Technology

ZÖLLNER develops and manufactures safety and warning systems for active track construction and maintenance. Our SIL4-certified systems to our solutions enable safe and efficient work on railway infrastructure—even during ongoing train operations.

Participation in this delegation trip highlights ZÖLLNER’s commitment to advancing innovation and safety on an international scale, while opening up new markets for modern safety technology.
