We are proud to announce that the joint development “Mobile Balise Stop (MBS/COBRA)” by ZÖLLNER and Infrabel has been nominated for the RailTech Innovation Awards 2024 in the category “Technology and Design”.

When developing the system, there was a clear focus: to make the work of employees on railway worksites safer!

More than 60% of the Belgian railway network is equipped with ETCS. Mobile Balise Stop (MBS) and the COBRA (Control of Balises with Remote Assistance) subsystem from ZÖLLNER will be used on these routes in future to increase the protection of employees in the track area. This is a mobile system that can be used to switch the status of the Eurobalise remotely via the telegram. The status of the balise determines whether approaching trains can continue or are brought to a standstill by braking.

Ein zukunftsweisendes System für die Sicherheit von Beschäftigten an Bahngleisen

Wir freuen uns, dass die gemeinsame Entwicklung "Mobile Balise Stop (MBS/COBRA)" von ZÖLLNER und Infrabel für die RailTech Innovation Awards 2024 in der Kategorie "Technology & Design" nominiert wurde.

Bei der Entwicklung des Systems gab es ein klares Ziel: die Arbeit der Mitarbeitenden auf Bahnbaustellen sicherer zu machen!

Mehr als 60 % des belgischen Schienennetzes sind mit ETCS ausgestattet. Auf diesen Strecken wird Mobile Balise Stop (MBS) und das Subsystem COBRA (Control of Balises with Remote Assistance) der Firma ZÖLLNER zukünftig eingesetzt, um den Schutz von Mitarbeitenden im Gleisbereich zu erhöhen. Dabei handelt es sich um ein mobiles System, mit dem aus der Ferne der Zustand über das Telegramm der Eurobalise geschaltet werden kann. Der Zustand der Balise entscheidet darüber, ob heranfahrende Züge weiterfahren können oder mit einer Bremsung zum Stillstand gebracht werden.
