Machine warning system in use at PNI
Construction work in and on the track, such as maintenance work, requires important behaviour on the track and the use of work safety equipment. The PNI Company, which was taken over by Polish Railways in 2018, has set itself the goal of bringing the machine fleet to the state of the art in terms of safety. In 2020, three ballast cleaning machines and in 2021 another machine were equipped with a machine warning system.
For the ZÖLLNER Company, this opened up the possibility of bringing the radio devices approved in Poland on the railway construction machines.
What was the task?
The client was looking for a machine warning system for a total of 4 machines. The following specifications were given by the client:
- Polish Railways Homologation
- Radio based system
- Covering the worksite noise
- Safety of the personnel
- Optical and acoustic warning required
How was the task carried out?
The system consists of control components installed in the central part of the machine (ZES with the power supply). The mobile acoustic and optical warning devices (ZPW-12) are mounted in the magnetic protective frame on the wagons at noise-intensive locations. In addition to the mobile radio devices, permanently installed warning devices for optic and acoustic warning are installed on the machines (WGH-M, WGL-M). The system is activated via the train detectors (F500) and the signal is transmitted by radio (ZFS) to the system's central control unit and then on to the warning devices. The system is switched off manually via the central control unit (ZRC).
How was the project?
The first step was to organise an appointment on site to inspect the machine. As many questions as possible were already answered in the technical discussion and a suitable offer was prepared on the basis of the photos and plans. The project was realised according to the customer's wishes.
